The 9 O’clock Show
August 25, 2008
My 6 years old niece, Megan is a loyal supporter of the 9 O’clock show on Channel 8. She has been hooked onto the TV ever since she was 1 years old, starting from simple ABCs to Barney & Friends, to Hi-Five, to Mr Bean, and I could really go on.
And now, she talks about the 9 O’clock show, sings to the theme song, and rarely misses an episode. My aunt said it helps her learn Mandarin. Well, I can’t disagree with that.
But I can’t help but wonder if kids are getting more mature at a younger age these days. Aren’t the 9 o’clock show aired at 9 o’clock precisely because it contains adult content? Yet my niece could follow and discuss the content. Amazing isn’t.
This is, but one of the many examples. Do you have similar experience? Leave your comments.
